Where:  Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds, Columbia City, IN.

Who:  To benefit the Whitley County 4-H Bicycle Club and the Whitley County Division, Optimist International. 

The Tour De Loops II features four 25-mile loop routes, one 10-mile loop route, and one 15 mile mountain bike trail, each starting and finishing at the 4-H Center, Columbia City, Indiana. All loops are flat to rolling with several challenging grades.  No super low gears are required. 

Registration begins at 8:00am on Sunday, September 20.  Buffet lunch will be provided for all participants from 10:00am to 4:00pm.  You may ride one, two, three or all four of the loops.  You may choose the one with the best winds and ride it several times.  Each loop will have a sag stop halfway and sag vehicles in case of emergency.

The loops are all within Whitley County and go thru the communities of Etna, Tri Lakes, Laud, Collins and South Whitley.

The Whitley County 4-H Bicycle Club

For many years, Whitley County has had a very active 4-H Bicycle Club, 80 members in the current year.  Each year some of the older members have been able to attend various bicycle tours around the state.  To create a fund for a club touring program and to assist their annual Bicycle Rodeo, was to raise funds were investigated.  What was more natural than organizing a local bike tour?

Optimist International

The Columbia City Optimist Club is a civic organization that supports children’s programs in Whitley County.  All monies raised are spent in Whitley County.  Some of our annual programs are:  Kids Safety Day, Bicycle Safety Day, Oratorical Contest, Respect for Law Camp, Tri Star Basketball.  We also give a graduate a scholarship each year through funds that we raise.

You are not asked to obtain pledges to ride this tour.  Your entry fee will help support two important functions – young people developing a lifelong sport and research to make life longer and more fulfilling.

The Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds is located on Lincolnway approximately 1/3 mile South of the intersection of US Highway 30 and Lincolnway on the West Side of Columbia City. The 4-H Center faces Squawbuck Road on the South property line of the fairgrounds.
